Frankly - I never tried these commands in my
life - I usually flash the device in a different
way (http://wiki.openpcd.org/wiki/Firmware):

# sudo ./dfu-programmer openpcd dfu_dnload /path/to/openpcd/firmware/main_dumbreader.bin

there is a wellknown error in dfu-programmer that
you have to execute this command twice to make it
work.
Another option is to have the button on the device
pressed while plugging the mini USB cable.
