Question about OpenPCD firmware

I've purchased two OpenPCD sets - and they look nice. And as per what I normally
do I followed the instructions to update the firmware on one of the devices
(leaving the other device in pristine state).

The journey through updating the firmware was an interesting one. After redoing
  the firmware in the one which wasn't responding using the 262 version off the
website which is certainly different to the version in SVN - the green light
doesn't blink for instance - so obviously that wasn't the firmware loaded when
the devices were shipped to me (in mid December).

And I can use opcd_test to change led settings and to get the serial number, but
librfid isn't working to grab card details. I compiled it up with debug so I
could get some useful output. There are strange things in the output.

Hopefully the three different debug outputs will help someone figure out what
steps I can take to get the device back to "factory state" - or determine if I
actually have a non-working device.

WORKING OTHER DEVICE WHICH I HAVEN'T RESET - The first one wasn't working
(lights flashed etc but no mifare cards detected) so it started down the path of
updating it. I've done the dfu-programmer path and also the SAMBA stuff to
completely reset things - and still no result in terms of getting mifrare cards
read which work fine with the other reader.

Now the same command run on the one which works (which I haven't changed the
firmware) gives:
