scanning for multiple tags with openpcd

Hello openpcd developers,

i'm a student form the computer science faculty at the university of
bielefeld. We are using one of your openpcd card readers in our
intelligent systems course. We are trying to build a touchable music
player. The whoule player is represented through a table with some
buttons. The user should now be able to choose music through putting
rfid tags onto this table. 

For this application we need to scan for multiple rfid tags. At the
moment we are using the dumb reader firmware and the mifare-tool. The
mifare-tool seems to scan only for the first tag that occurs. 
My questions are: 

Is is possible to scan for multiple tags with the openpcd card reader? 
And if it is possible how is it possible? 

I took a look at the librfid but haven't found much documentation yet so
that it looked rather difficult for me to get started writing my own
programm for tag scanning. 

I'm happy with every small tip that you can give me on how I should
proceed
