OpenPCD/librfid: does it really works?

Hi all,
I have some troubles with OpenPCD/librfid.
Please, can someone help me?

I use librfid-tool and mifare-tool to test the device: sometimes it
works, sometime it does not. Usually I have to disconnect and
reconnect after the first scan of a card.
Is there a problem in the firmware? Is there a way to build a working
version of this fw?

Why the VisualC example in the pre-built package librfid_win32v7.zip
for Windows doesn't work?
- I use MinGW/Eclipse or Visual Studio.
- I try to build the example or a similar source that I write to make
calls to openpcd.dll. The build is ok.
- When it runs, I always get the same result: the program sees the
reader, prints the STATUS message, then it crashes with

"Unhandled Win32 exception", and

this always occurs when I try to make a call to any other function in
openpcd library after the first call to openpcd_open_reader.
